At Eastern Panhandle Preparatory Academy, our focus is on helping students grow in meaningful and measurable ways. We believe students learn best in structured, supportive environments where instruction is clear, expectations are high, and teachers truly know their students.
Our academic program emphasizes strong literacy and math instruction alongside science, social studies, and enrichment experiences. Teachers use regular assessment and small group instruction to meet students where they are, provide additional support when needed, and extend learning for students who are ready for more. Our goal is for every student to make consistent academic progress and feel confident in their learning.

Core Subjects & Electives
Students at Eastern Panhandle Preparatory Academy engage in a comprehensive academic program aligned to the West Virginia College and Career Readiness Standards. Our program is designed to build strong foundational skills while encouraging curiosity and critical thinking. Instruction focuses on both mastery of essential skills and meaningful application of learning across subjects. Our curriculum also includes an embedded digital component that adapts instruction to individual student needs and supports personalized learning.
Literacy
Reading and writing instruction focuses on helping students become confident, capable readers and communicators. Students receive explicit instruction in foundational skills in the early grades and continue developing comprehension, vocabulary, and written expression as they progress.
Teachers use whole group and small group instruction to provide targeted support and challenge. Students read a variety of texts, participate in discussion, and write regularly across subject areas.
Mathematics
Mathematics instruction emphasizes both understanding and accuracy. Students learn how numbers work, practice efficient strategies, and apply their learning to real problems.
Lessons include direct instruction, guided practice, and problem solving. Teachers monitor progress closely and provide additional support or extension through small groups so all students continue to grow.
Science
Science instruction encourages observation, questioning, and investigation. Students explore life, physical, and earth science through hands on learning, discussion, and experimentation.
Students learn to think like scientists by making predictions, analyzing results, and explaining their reasoning using evidence.
Electives
Students participate in enrichment courses that support creativity, collaboration, and communication. Courses include Drama, Physical Education, and Digital Literacy.
These experiences allow students to build confidence, develop practical skills, and apply academic learning in meaningful ways across different settings.

Social Studies
Social studies helps students understand communities, history, geography, and civic responsibility. Students examine events, perspectives, and primary sources while building discussion and reasoning skills.
